If only we could sit down and be still
And pause for a while the chaos of our worldly affairs
We’d hear him talk to us crystal clear
And there’d be no use for any prayers
If only we could contemplate once
The cuts and scratches and bruises we give
To ourselves and to others we love or hate
There’d be no need for World Peace
If only we could give a thought
To our green and multi-hued ‘lesser’ friends
Then blessed would be this death that we live
And there’d be no need for the WWF
And if only for a moment we could hold on
To our hectic crimes and give the cubs a thought
They’d come out of their evil chasms
And there’d be no need for any rehabs
But alas for we do not stand
No time we have for wasting
Trivial deem we this trifle two minutes
Of just sitting down and thinking
And so the caravan rolls on
And on rolls the wheel of death
Man comes and goes but I linger still
And woefully witness my pitiful fate
For time bears testimony, it bore and will
To man’s inhumane and cruel deeds
Which lead nowhere else but death
Of him, of others, of all, of me.
